March 28th- May 30th- KGMC- Mason County National Art Honor- Annual Senior ART Showcase featuring current work from the MCHS graduating class of 2014. The MCHS National Art Honor Society will host an opening reception for parents and community members on Saturday, March 29th from 1-3 pm, featuring appetizers and free admission to the Museum galleries. Please congratulate and show your support to the 2014 artists: Sylvia Stahl (NAHS President), Holly Hesler (NAHS VP), Samantha Emmons (Secretary), Jacob Zeigler(Historian), This event culminates in the exhibition of senior AP Art portfolios and gives the students a real life taste of what it is like to be a professional artist planning shows and opening events to market works of art. Students are always encouraged when people attend this event and for some it motivates them to continue on a career path in the visual arts. The work displayed ranges in media from photography and graphic design to painting and drawing, all types of subject matter and applications of materials can be seen. This year we had senior Kelly Lee win Best of Show in 3-D, at the All State Art Competition with her work in Fashion Design and senior Dewey Gibson win 1st place in Printmaking. We also had many other winners from various categories and grade levels and these pieces will be displayed on the lower level of the museum. Please accept our invitation to this tribute of hard work these students have put forth in the visual arts and meet the artists on Saturday, March 29th from 2-4pm.
